However, Michael's parlor game didn't help Dunder Mifflin's financial crisis. This week finds Michael, Dwight, Andy and Oscar attending a shareholders meeting in New York. While Oscar has ideas on how to save the company, Michael relishes in his limo ride and corporate perks for the day. Meanwhile, Jim is contending with Ryan constantly undermining his authority.
This episode had great potential to make things happen. While confronted with angry shareholders, Michael ratchets tensions with his usual bumbling. And while clumsily trying to regain his footing, he promises a complete financial solution in fifteen minutes. Here's where the episode could have been great. Michael, after being berated by his corporate superiors, sent a text to Oscar summoning him to the backroom meeting. Here Michael could have been the hero. He could have delivered on his promise to the shareholders. But instead, Oscar bashfully said nothing of consequence and retreated from the room. Embarrassed, Michael tries to encourage his superiors but is instead ejected from the meeting and told to "take the bus home." The episode ends with Michael, Andy, Dwight and Oscar hightailing it to their waiting limo before word of the revocation could make it's way to the driver.
What a let down! I would have much rather seen Michael and Oscar save the day. And while Jim's small victory over Ryan was a satisfying comeuppance, this episode left me wanting. Hopefully next week...

I have to agree with you here.. As infuriating as Michaels bumbling can be, I honestly root for him when you can tell his opportunity to shine is coming.. I hope they don't wear that good will out by having him strike out every time with more contemptible foolishness than the last.
It was the implication and occasional glimmer caught out of the corner of the eye keeps me thinking that the characters of the American Office aren't completely two dimensional, and this is what has kept me with it and even made me prefer it to the British counterpart.
Well said.
